Q: I want to make an outdoor futon cover. Want is sturdy but not to difficult to sew. Would this be ok ?

Q: Do you have 15oz cotton duck canvas Untreated, wider than 60 inches? It says at the top, you have up to 72". I was hoping for 7'×9' Thanks.

A: Hi Robert

No we do not. We did have 72" wide 10 ounce canvas but it was discontinued a few weeks ago. We have not yet found an alternative supplier.

Q: I am making a bag (approx. 1 1/2'× 3 1/2') to hold booster cables, tow rope, basic tools, etc. It will be long & hang behind a truck seat. I was wondering specifically about 15, 18, or mandarin (black). It needs to be machine washable also. Which duck cloth (minimum weight/type) would be the best suited for this purpose?

Mandarin would be too light for holding tools. Use our 21 ounce cotton canvas so there would be no worries about the the tools causing abrasion and wearing through the canvas.

Q: I want to make a canvas cover for my outdoor swing. I’m not familiar with what say 15 oz canvas means. I want a sturdy fabric. What sort of ounces should fill the bill ?

A: Hi Liz

15 ounce cotton canvas is the weight per square yard of the canvas. Use 15 ounce canvas and higher for your cover. A better fabric for your swing would be Sunbrella awning fabric. It will last longer, is mildew, rot, fade resistant and has better water repellancy.
