®
Brand Turn Button Socket - Nickle Plated Brass, also known as Twist Lock or Common Sense Fasteners. These Dot Brand Fasteners are by far our favorite positive locking, non-knuckle busting fastener. These have a long prong for applications where there are 3 or more layers (depending on thickness) of fabric. Complete set, includes socket and washer.

Width is 7/8"
Length is 1 & 1/8"
Bottom of prong to the top of the socket 3/8"

Hello. I am considering sewing a new sail cover. I would like to use the cloth to cloth dot turn button stud and a long Prong Turn Button socket. My question is : do I need a special tool to install those?

Hi Antigua
To install the cloth to cloth dot turn button studs you would need a tool to crimp the buttons. Here is a link to our most inexpensive tool for this job.

I suggest you get the regular turn button sockets for a sail cover rather than the long prong turn button sockets because the fabric thickness will be minimal. As far as a tool, you may consider a turn button hole punch to make the holes to except the male turn button portion, You can also use an utility knife to make the holes if you are not in a hurry.
