Sew-on Scotchlite™ 8987 F.R. Fluorescent Lime/Yellow Reflective Fire Retardant Tape
Commonly used in accessories, safety vests, uniforms, harnesses, rainwear, jackets, outerwear, active wear, headwear, handwear, backpacks, armbands, straps, belts, cut-out letters and numbers, patches, and crests.
Application: This material can be attached to a broad range of medium and heavyweight fabrics. Sew in place using a lockstitch with no more than 12 stitches per inch (2.54 cm) and place at least 5/64" (2mm) from the edge of reflective fabric. Use of a Teflon-coated needle may extend needle life. Do not attach to highly elastic materials. The film can be hand-cut, die-cut, or guillotined. Whenever two or more pieces of trim are used together on a single surface or as a set, they should be matched to ensure uniform day color and nighttime reflectivity.
Care Guidelines: Listed in order of preference. When the application of trim is on fire-fighting turn-out clothing, appropriate cleaning procedures must be followed (refer to NFPA 1971, 1997 Edition, appendix A). Do not pre-soak or use chlorine bleach.
Wash: Machine wash warm, 40°C (105°F)
Dry: Tumble dry low. On fire garments: hang to air dry, away from direct sunlight.
Iron: Use cool iron, 110°C (230°F)
Dry-Clean: Dry-clean (perchloroethylene). Do not commercial launder.
Cautions: Maximum shrinkage - 3%. Recommended shelf life of two years, stored in a cool, dry area. While Scotchlite™ reflective material greatly enhances visibility, no reflective material can guarantee absolute visibility, especially in adverse weather conditions.
Flame Resistance: This material can be attached to a broad range of medium and heavyweight fabrics. Tested for flame resistance according to Federal Test Method Standard 191A, Method 5903. Average char length is less than 6 inches.
Features: This is a highly reflective fabric consisting of exposed wide-angle lenses bonded to a durable cloth backing composed of 94% polyester and 6% cotton. It is lightweight and flexible, with an enhanced daytime appearance. Provides high attention value when visibility decreases, particularly at dawn or dusk. The nighttime appearance is a brilliant orange or yellow and provides reflectivity based on a wide range of light source angles.
Cleaning Instructions: Test each application according to appropriate care instructions required for the finished product. Actual life of reflective material fabric depends on cleaning method and wear conditions. Machine wash warm, 40°C (105°F). Tumble dry low. On fire garments: hang to air dry, away from direct sunlight. Do not bleach. Use a cool iron. Dry-clean (perchloroethylene).
