Q: I want to replace some carpet on the deck of my boat with Nautilex. The boat is 12 years old and the carpet I am removing is still in excellent condition but I prefer vynil. Which adhesives are compatable and which would you recommend? The floor boards are marine plywood.

Either of our HH-66 or 390 adhesives will work on plywood and aluminum but they will not adhere to treated plywood. Treated plywood has an oily film preventing the glue from doing it's job.

At this point we only the have 72". Nautolex has said that they are looking into manufacturing 96" but who knows if and when that will happen?

You would have 108 sq/ft.

You can use either one of these adhesives

390 Premium Marine Carpet Adhesive covers 80 sq/ft, so you would require 2. Here is a link to the glue

Hi Mark

You can use either HH-66 or 390 Premium Adhesive to glue the vinyl to plywood. I would recommend the 390 adhesive only because it is easier to apply. HH-66 is a contact adhesive and needs to be applied to both the vinyl and the plywood where the 390 only needs to be applied to the plywood and then you would lay the vinyl on top. If using 390 make sure tou use a roller or a 2 by 6 to get rid of any bumps created by the glue. Here are links to both adhesives.

This flooring will never turn sticky over time but instead will turn brittle and crack after atleast 15 years. I'm thinking the issue with your flooring is the cleaning products used or it is not Nautolex flooring.
